BOILS

A boil is an inflamed, pus-filled, painful, lump on the skin caused by a bacterial infection. It usually forms around the hair follicle. The most common areas it occurs are armpits, buttocks, thighs, shoulder, neck & face.

Causes

The most common cause of boil is a bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Other types of bacteria also can cause a boil when they get into the hair follicle. Factors that make you more susceptible to bacterial infection are.

Low immune system
Diabetes
Poor nutrition
Close contact with the person who has an infection
Improper hygiene
History of having boils in the past
Other skin condition like eczema/psoriasis that allows bacteria to enter in the skin
